Is the ‘Golden Age of Pakistani Cricket’ over?
This is a question that is often asked myself. While there is no simple answer to that, but due to the way the performance of the national cricket team over the past few years, and I've started to think along the lines that maybe it is. I grew up in the 90s during the days of Wasim, Waqar, Anwar, Inzamam, Skulain, Shoaib etc. to name a few. Even Afridi was a different player at the time as much as you feel the actual performance. I remember that it was to be a general feeling of confidence in our bowling lineup there, we prided ourselves with the knowledge that no matter how bad our batting lineup handsome lead Bhai and X Y Z will save us. I say X Y Z because of the handsome Bhai bowling partner was variable. It was handsome Bhai constant. We have witnessed a gradual decline in tact Pakistani cricket over time. Whether you agree with this separate case, but I feel that this should be an objective assessment rather than subjective.
The question that arises during one of the last games of the World Cup against India, where Pakistan has done an amazing job amazing to keep the perfect record of India in World Cups against us. Many of my friends Indians who were watching the game with me and shared the opposite point of view of how their team's progress over the years. In their case, the golden age of Indian cricket is here now, as we speak. I do not disagree with that because of the extent of lead India in the international arena these days. It also led me to the question that although Pakistan has traditionally boasted a better win% against India (we have won more games), and the equation tend gradually in favor of India. And began to nag me and I wanted to see for myself how things have changed. Unfortunately, I'm not a very good writer, but I was fine with numbers. So I decided to analyze the Pakistan Wayne% against all the teams and see how this trend changed with the passage of time.
