Mumbai opt for Jaipur as alternative venue
Mumbai Indians have chosen Jaipur Sawai Mansingh Stadium as its home alternative place, following a judgment of the Bombay High Court to change all IPL matches Maharashtra on April 30 because of a severe drought throughout the state. The increase in Pune Supergiants, the other franchise based in Maharashtra, Vishakhapatnam had listed as their alternative venue. Applications will have to be ratified by the Governing Council of the tournament.
"Mumbai Indians had given three options -. Jaipur, Kanpur and Raipur Mumbai Indians told us they would like to play their home games at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur" said Rajeev Shukla IPL chairman. "Accordingly, officials of IPL and IMG are to Rajasthan tomorrow to speak to the state government."
The BCCI had suspended Cricket Association May Rajasthan in 2014 after the state association elected Lalit Modi, an administrator expelled, as its president, but Shukla said that the suspension of a state agency does not mean suspension of the seat. Rajasthan team had played their home games Ranji Trophy in 2014-15 and 2015-16 at the stadium under the auspices of the BCCI. The ground has hosted a match of IPL since May 2013, but an ODI and some accessories of the Champions League T20 was held there in September and October 2013.
Shukla, who is also the president of the Cricket Association of Uttar Pradesh, has said he hopes the two parties assigned to Kanpur IPL to be held scheduled on 19 and 21 May.
"There were some problems regarding the intensity of the spotlight and has been resolved," Shukla said. "In a couple of days, interested persons will go through an inspection. I am confident that the parties will be held in Kanpur as planned."
