Majority of Indians excited about IPL 2016: Ipsos survey

More than seven in ten (71%) urban Indians surveyed are enthusiastic about the Indian Premier League (IPL) after a new study by Ipsos, a global market research company.

Most buoyancy audience are from Ahmedabad (90%) - with Gujarat Lions this IPL debut, their enthusiasm is very high; followed by Mumbaikars (88%); Chennai (72%); Delhi - 64%; Kolkata - 69%; Bangalore - 66%; Hyderabad - 52% and Lucknow - 69%.

However, a significant number of respondents either to watch the IPL in bits and pieces (23% in Delhi, total 14% 22% in Kolkata, 20% in Lucknow, 18% in Bangalore), or the IPL a give complete failure (total 4%; 10% in Bangalore).

"Allure of Cricket exceeds Indian cities, age groups and layers. The pace of the IPL and format of the game on the sensitivities of urban Indians to a large extent has appealed," says Amit Adarkar, Managing Director India, Ipsos.

Ipsos IPL survey was conducted in eight cities, among 1,028 Indian respondents conducted by Ipsos Public Affairs Team in April 2016 - Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Lucknow and Ahmedabad.

Overall, 41% of respondents said that world-class players in mixed teams was what they liked best about the game; 32% as the format of the game T20; 21% of respondents watching live these players

at the stadium which takes the cake; 17% of respondents are queried taken of all fun, color, music, celebrations and cheer leaders in the glory of this event; 12% of respondents love this event but are undecided what makes this event so attractive to them and 5% as all elements of the IPL, in totality.

Adarkar feels that this event is like a big Jamboree for cricket lovers. "In its ninth season now the IPL has caught spirit room far;. Anything other than the IPL gets a short process, much to the chagrin of many, but brought marketer, film producers, television channels into line and learned some of their mega-offs and events avoid collision with the popular cricket event (IPL) to move. "

Respondents plan most games of the IPL to see at home, but with their gang of friends; 10% of respondents said they would watch the game of the IPL match, live; 2% would be observed in a sports bar or a restaurant with friends; and 1% said they would control the game online, on their laptops or desktops.
