IPL a successful global brand, says Kumble

Kumble, who is in Thiruvananthapuram to visit Tenvic Academy, which began work in Sports Hub in Kariyavattom last month, said it conscious decision to was off the ninth edition of IPL. "I connected with IPL for the last eight years.

"This summer I eventually wanted to spend with my family, and I enjoy it. I would in the next season of the IPL," he said.

Kumble said spin bowling in India was healthy and there in the country a lot of talent was evident by the performances of some spinners in the IPL although he said the game shortest version was not the right platform to assess a spinner as a test game views. "Over the past few seasons Ashwin has been good bowling. Amit Mishra does well and Harbhajan Singh is still playing. There are Jadeja and some promising spinners that do well in IPL. I feel spin bowling in India is healthy, '' said Kumble, who also said he was not surprised that spinners well doing in T20.

"I always felt spinners have a big role in T20. It is about a good line and try variations bowling, '' he said.

Holistic development
In his new project in Thiruvananthapuram, Kumble said he was satisfied with the response, as about 140 children, the Academy had joined without much publicity.

"The infrastructure is fantastic and world class. We believe in a holistic development of children. I have always thought that children should first enjoy the game.

"We have with cricket and soccer and over time more games will be added as other facilities such as swimming pool and gymnasium began to start work," he said.

Anil Kumble interacted with parents and spent time with students at the Academy. He also said he would often visit the center in the future.
