Cricket: Williamson confirmed as Black Caps captain

New Zealand Cricket has confirmed as the Black Caps in all three formats captain Kane Williamson.
The 25-year-old is since 2010 member of the Black Caps and has already led to the side in 36 short form games while earning great praise during the recent ICC World Twenty20 in India for his captaincy.

He is the 34th captain the New Zealand team in each complete international format skipper, and is ready to test 29 became master of the country - from 1930 to Tom Lowry.

NZC CEO David White said Williamson was the right man to the front to lead the team.

"Kane has been a leader within the team for a long time now and has already been shown to be an extremely capable captain," White said.

"He is respected by his peers and the wider cricket community for his professionalism on and off the pitch and has an excellent cricket brain.

"His drive the team to be successful and to see his passion for the game, you have to look for in a leader. He is ready for the role, and will only continue to grow."

Williamson, who is currently in India playing in the IPL, said it was a challenge he was looking forward to, but you knew that he would not face without a great support.

"It's certainly an honor. I have really enjoyed my time spent as captain and believe that this team can achieve a lot," Williamson said.

"I have to be lucky, a number of experienced players around me for support and will certainly be looking to use this. We are here for the same thing all the struts and that is to represent with pride Zealand and win cricket matches. "

Williamson also occasionally from predecessor Brendon McCullum, the work performed, and to praise the environment in the locker room.

"I've certainly learned a lot from Brendon as anyone who has played with him.

"The culture, who cultivated it and Mike (Hesson) in recent times, a large part of this team success. We have not only good players but good people and that makes sure the captain every job easier."

The Black Caps next tour is in July-August of Africa, where they are scheduled to play two Tests both Zimbabwe and South Africa.
