SC rejects MCA, Maharashtra Cricket Association appeals



The Supreme Court has the appeals of the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) and the Maharashtra Cricket Association against the Bombay High Court to dismiss all IPL had ruled in 2016 matches will be played in Maharashtra may be moved out of the state.

The Bombay High Court judgment had come earlier in the month after a public interest litigation (PIL) interviewed hosting IPL matches in Mumbai, Pune and Nagpur, while severe drought persisted in Maharashtra. The court had sought an explanation from the BCCI and the national associations, why water should be "wasted" on the hosting of the Games, when the state against one of its worst droughts ever.

The court later allowed the opening match in Mumbai on April 9 and asked to spell their plans to combat Maharashtra state government and Mumbai civic body that are Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, held as planned, the problem of water scarcity.

The court later permission to carry out the game between Giants and Mumbai in Pune on May 1 after the BCCI permission for the same had been looking for, citing logistical difficulties, due to a short lead time of the match between giants and Gujarat Lions on 29th April to the same place. Pune is missed five games, including the eliminator and the second qualification, while no games will be held in Nagpur.

Mumbai was chosen Jaipur Sawai Mansingh Stadium as an alternative venue, while giant Visakhapatnam had listed as an alternative ground. Mumbai 2016 on April 28, play their last match in Wankhede Stadium for IPL against Kolkata Knight Riders, while Giants' last game in the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium will be on May 1, against Mumbai.
