Linking drought to IPL will trivialise crisis - Dravid
To move in response to the Bombay High Court by 13 IPL matches of drought-hit Maharashtra, former captains Sunil Gavaskar and Rahul Dravid have said that cricket should not be mixed with such a serious problem. The High Court on Wednesday ordered that all IPL matches should be postponed to 30 April in the state because of the acute water crisis of Maharashtra out.
"It is a serious problem, and the fact that so many people die of water due to lack serious, but it is IPL link trivialize it," Dravid NDTV said. "How can a drought as important as cricket? If not with IPL, to solve the problem, then we should stop playing cricket."
Based on the mood, Gavaskar said the sports controversy is sorted out to rake.
"What do you think has happened since the last nine-10 years? There is always something or the other before or during the IPL resurface," Gavaskar NDTV said. "Whether, indeed, it is a soft target or not a soft target."
Gavaskar said during the drought, which has led to farmer suicides, is a serious problem, it can not be mixed with Cricket.
"Peasant life have absolute priority. They are not with people who put on the table bread trifle can. This can not be trivialized," he said. "If the water is saved by not corresponding with IPL? If so, how can it be done? The BCCI was not guaranteed that they do not use water. Franchises and BCCI, I believe, a donation to the Chief Minister Relief offered to make funds. These were significant and good gestures. "
Gavaskar said if water protection could be done by stopping cricket, then other activities should also be examined.
"Why only cricket has been? What is gardening, swimming? You can go on and. Only Cricket was sorted out," he said. "Not only this, even if there is something political, Cricket is discarded. When it comes to have relations with a country, or not, it is cricket that is talked about."
Gavaskar said water protection a long-term plan needed: .. "This is something that needs to be done over a period of time in the past two to three years, it has less rain in Maharashtra and the country's national government and state governments have to think how to solve this problem. Throughout this problem there and with global warming, this will only increase.
"If a policy to be developed, so that we know that there is less rain in the case, what should be done. It can not be performed by not only play some games in the IPL."
