Hijab wearing Cricketer? yep!

Hijab-wearing UAE women’s cricket captain hopes to inspire more girls to take up the game

How much depends on the tape recorder and voice Humaira Tasnim, Qattan gently from the women cricket team speaks of the United Arab Emirates, and headed into the net, she suddenly adopts a strict tone. "Make sure you put in a summit on the veil, please," she says, finally.
Among the 40 or so women train together in the net at the Sharjah Cricket Ground, Tasneem cut personal and clear for several reasons.
First, they are outstanding cricketer. Very good, in fact, she spends a lot of time to train players at least the experience of others in the net session because they do not sharpen her own game. And Secondly, the architecture student, aged 20 years, is one of the few players to wear the veil.
"When I was young I did not wear a scarf to play," says Tasnim. "When I first did I wondered if people ask why you wear the veil, but not something like this did not happen at all.
"It's a Muslim country of people saw me wearing it, and said:" That's great. "I do not think anyone is shallow so that they will have a problem with that. No one does."
Certainly there is nothing to prevent her from pursuing a passion for cricket inherited from her father, who was very passionate about her distant relative Mohammad Azharuddin, the former India captain, and then evolved over the feisty games with her two brothers.
And he participated with the national team since he was 12 years old and wants to be a role model for other women cricketers.
"I'm sure there are people hidden there who do not play cricket because they believe that the veil means that they can not play," Tasneem, who was born in the eye, he says.
"But it was fine. When we had the Gulf Cup [UAE won the tournament in December] congratulatory, and one of the girls came up to me and said:" I hope I can be like you someday. "
"That felt pretty good. She was wearing a hijab, she said:" I want to be a cricket player, just like you. If people see any diaphragmatic exercise, it should help. I'm sure that there are girls out there who wear hijab do not come to play sports because of it. "
Tasnim message is clear: there must be no impediment to play cricket. Cricket management mantra here trying to cross, too. Theirs is a sport for all, and the more the merrier.
It is part of the reason the Emirates Cricket Council is currently in the midst of a talent hunt the country's cricketers, male and female. It is a bit like X- cricket UAE factor, only with less lights flashing, and more sympathetic down mode.
In one sitting for men in Ajman recently, there were over a hundred aspiring players. As many of 20 was chosen for further evaluation by Aaqib Javed, the national coach.
In a session for women only in the last week in Sharjah, and the numbers are lower. In fact, the majority were dressed for, gray-training kit sponsor the issue of the national team pointer to the fact that most of the players were already known to the selectors.
The other was an eclectic mix. One has played for the national team of Pakistan in the past. Now living in the United Arab Emirates, she coaches the cricket, but play a little bit. Last Sri Lankan left-hander in the pink hat, and hit like a female Kumar Sangakkara.
Others were much lower down the path of development. He said a young aspirant organizers Her dream was to play cricket. It was the idea to the fact that they are just starting out in the game are clear from the fact that I went in to bat with her bodyguard forearm covering her warheads instead.
Last warmed by Bowling for her son, who is eight years old in the back of the net. She said it was her dream to represent the UAE in cricket, too.
There are practical power between that want to increase their player gathered reason. The ECB wants the national team to look behind the competitions in the Gulf region, who play most regularly, you begin to gain acceptance in the events of the International Cricket Council.
To do so, they need to appropriate local competition. It is hoped that the talent hunt helps to attract players to help fill the new, four-team tournament scheduled for late April and May.
"This will provide an opportunity to get some statistics on each player," said Andy Russell, development director who oversees the restructuring of the popular game.
"Throughout the summer we will bring them all together again, for training during the three months.
"It gives them some kind of structure, and to do something every month. In the past, the tournament to tournament, and that could be one year at a time.
"We wanted to get away from everyone train together because that's really not how to grow the game. This is the first step toward getting the players to enter more tournaments."
