From Varun Dhawan to Fawad Khan: Who should play Virat Kohli in his biopic? - Bollywood Cricket

Two biopics on cricketers - Azhar (based on the life of Mohammad Azharuddin) and Dhoni: The Story Untold (on MS Dhoni) are already underway. Now, with Virat Kohli single-handedly taking India to victory in the match against Australia in the T20 series, a biopic on this fiery cricketer's life shouldn't be far behind. There is enough grist - his inspiring journey, drama on and off the ground, (thanks to his short temper and fiesty attitude) and masala (love story with a top Bollywood heroine Anushka Sharma) in his life to make it to the big screen. And if it does, here's our pick of actors who can play the volatile and dynamic cricketer..

Varun Dhawan:

He is young, brash, confident and has almost the same frame as the cricketer. True he is a little muscular to play Virat right now, but we are sure Varun has the ability to develop a lean and athletic physique like the player. What's more the two bonded and had a blast during the Indian Super League match between FC Goa and FC Pune City last year. So, it shouldn't be difficult for Varun to acquire his buddy's cricketing skills and flair to play the role.

Sooraj Pancholi:

Sooraj has a rugged, rakish look like Virat and if he grows his mustache and beard will even resemble the cricketer. Also, he is fond of tattoos just like Virat. Young and raring to go, Sooraj who has recently made his foray into films will be able to portray the brooding cricketer's anger, angst and glory aptly.

Ranveer Singh:

He is flamboyant, eclectic in his film choices and a talented actor. If he can play a Maratha warrior with conviction, essaying a contemporary cricketer should be a cakewalk for him. Of course, he will have to learn the game and adapt Virat's style, but that shouldn't be difficult for him as the two were good friends once. Also, both have dated a certain Ms Sharma, which means they have similar likes. That's half the battle won.

Fawad Khan:

So far we have seen this hot Pakistani actor playing a soft-spoken businessman (Khoobsurat), a suave author and a closet gay to perfection (Kapoor & Sons). He has a huge female fan following like Virat. He already has a moustache and beard, all he has to do is imbibe the cricketer's mannerisms, train in cricket and he will be good to go.

Virat Kohli:

Last, but not the least the cricketer himself can make his Bolly debut with this biopic. Yes, we know, the track record of cricketers-turned-actors hasn't exactly been good, but he could just turn it around. He has already proved he is good in front of the camera with the numerous commercials he has done. He has a huge fan following among girls and boys across age groups. So, who better than him to capture his own illustrious career on screen? With Anushka doing a cameo it should be a crowd-puller.
