Eclectic bunch bat for cricket
It seems decent. But all those hats belong to Adam Bacher - only one of the four who has experience in the level at which the focus will be on the team.
It is not to doubt the credentials of others. Dawn Mokhobo, an independent member of the Board of Management and the Canadian Space Agency, who will lead the investigation, is a masterful work. Ross Tucker is leading the world of sport in South Africa. Francois Pienaar is Francois Pienaar, the winner of the national World Cup and headboy informally.
The decision to make an independent investigation largely from people currently attached to the Canadian Space Agency is commendable. But what does it say about the game in this country that an important examination of the validity of the will be conducted largely by people with little direct knowledge of what they are investigating?
Or you do know what goes wrong for South Africa at the time of the tournament requires a different set of skills that people can not be expected to be just because they played cricket at a high level?
He said, "We have the human resources person [Mokhobo, Ascom, a former senior director of human resources] in charge of the review of cricket does not sit well," the former Test batsman Barry Richards yesterday.
"I have no problem if they're financial review or a strategic plan. But if you review the cricket I think you need cricketers."
Richards also wondered aloud about how "open and honest" in the review will be. He said he may, then, be given hope for the participation of Tucker.
"I've always tried to be blunt and direct, open and honest," Tucker yesterday.
"So, if you get any idea about the failure on the part of the Canadian Space Agency to take this process seriously and given the necessary weight, then I'll be blunt about it, too."
Tucker was included as a "sports physiologist" When the Canadian Space Agency called the panel, but much more than that. In addition to the post of Professor of Exercise Physiology with the Faculty of Medicine at the University of the Free State, he is the president of the Rugby World to discuss the high performance and injury prevention.
After South Africa's poor performance in the investigation of the Beijing Olympics in 2008, Tucker produced a 12-year plan to raise standards in all of the Olympic symbols.
His proposal was not adopted because of political rivalry between the suits, but has taken some sports even his ideas on their own.
