Dubai among the world’s top 100 airports: survey

Dubai:  Dubai International is one of the best airports in the world, according to a new survey among millions of passengers worldwide.
In a survey conducted between June 2015 and February 2016 involving 550 airports, Dubai International was voted as the 26th best airport, beating other global passenger hubs in Paris, New York, Barcelona, Vienna and Shanghai, among many others.
Dubai International climbed several places in the global ranking compared to a year ago’s survey, which placed the airport in the 39th place.
The global ranking was released by consultancy firm Skytrax after reviewing 13.25 million survey questionnaires completed by106 nationalities from around the world.
To come up with the ranking, Skytrax evaluated traveller experiences across different airport service and product key performance indicators- from check-in, arrivals, transfers, shopping, security and immigration through to departure at the gate.
In particular, passengers were asked about taxi availability at the airport; terminal comfort, ambiance and design; courtesy and attitude of security staff; check-in facilities, queuing systems and seating; ease of transit through airport; choice of tax-free shopping; prices charged in retail outlets, among several other parameters.
The results of the survey are considered a “global benchmark of airport excellence" and widely known as “passenger choice awards.”
Overall, the title of best airport went to Singapore, followed by Incheon International in the second place, Munich Airport (3rd), Tokyo International Haneda (4th) , Hong Kong International Airport (5th), Centrair Airport (6th), Zurich Airport (7th), London Heathrow (8th), Kansai International Airport (9th) and Doha Hamad Airport (10th).
Abu Dhabi Airport showed up in the 38th place.
