Virat Kohli needs to pay me: MS Dhoni
India began slow, but steady and on Sunday beat Australia by six wickets to reach the World T20 semi finals. The credit goes to Virat Kohli who scored an unbeaten 82 to smash Australia out of the tournament. Well, India were struggling to find boundaries and could not run hard because of Yuvraj Singh's injury. When the southpaw got out, India needed almost 12 runs in an over to achieve the target.
The picture took a turn when team India captain MS Dhoni came in the middle and eased pressure off Kohli who was finding it hard to hit in gaps. As soon as the pair started running hard and converted singles into doubles and two’s into three’s, the pressure eased off.
“He (Virat) still needs to pay to me, as I was running his runs,' Dhoni said jokingly at the post match press conference at Mohali.
"I have always said that in the middle overs, if you are a good runner, it really takes pressure off you. In the middle overs it's all about running between the wickets. If you can take the double, that puts a lot of pressure on the fielder," Dhoni added.
Dhoni stressed on the importance of running between the wickets and appreciated Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja for their fielding.
